A 4 -* Evening!

Linen table clothes, fall colors and decorations, 101 different recipes to delight the taste buds, with 28 different desserts create an evening to remember!

A diner at last years “A Taste of Madison Park” event comments, “We came just for dinner but stayed the whole evening, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and fellowship with people we only pass on Sundays.Marti Freeman, MPC Volunteer Coordinator, says that this event provides a two fold opportunity, “MPC goers can kick back, relax,  renew, and nurture friendships that may have been neglected in our busy lifes. It is also an opportunity to extend hospitality to the community, bringing visitors into the MPC facilities with an opportunity to invite them back to worship.”

This years event will feature Michael Balassone, saxonphonist, and exciting door prizes. All food is prepared and catered by volunteers from recipes found in the MPC cookbook. The cookbook, containing quality easy to prepare recipes, will be available at the event. Marti says, “These cookbooks make wonderful wedding and Christmas gifts.” She adds that “Although this is a ‘come-and-go’ event it may just turn into an entire evening of pure 4-star enjoyment!”

From the Board of Elders

As we celebrate our One Year Anniversary at Madison Park, we gratefully thank you for your faithfulness in giving of your time, prayer and financial contributions.

The Dreams Work initiative, introduced last fall, encourages every individual, each follower of Christ, to grow in the area of stewardship—of giving to God gifts of time, talents and finances. The financial goal of Dreams Work is to pay down $4 million of the existing debt, freeing thousands of dollars for ministry. Every dollar saved on interest payments is released for ministry—for changing lives exponentially at home and around the world.

The faithful financial support of the Dreams Work initiative has enabled many ministries to serve our community and the world at large. Not only has Madison Park and our community been influenced and changed by this campaign, many global ministries have also seen the love of Christ through contributors who have given a portion of their pledge to support the mission abroad.

If you are giving to Dreams Work, remember that 10% of your contributions for this campaign may be designated toward funding our mission’s effort abroad. If you wish to designate a portion of your gift toward missions or have any questions about your pledge, please contact Rob Spaulding at the Church Office.

If you made a commitment to Dreams Work, but have not begun to contribute, it’s not too late to begin. And if you are new to Dreams Work, or have not made a pledge, please prayerfully consider making a sacrificial commitment, remembering that this gift is above and beyond a regular tithe. Commitment cards are available at the Information Center and Church Office.

Thank you for your financial support and your passion for sharing the greatest story ever told—in Madison County and beyond.

Resident Elders serving in 2008 are: HL Baker, Barbara Collier, Jim Hanson, Regina Jackson, Jim Lyon (Senior Pastor), Kimmi McCardwell, (Treasurer), Ben McCurdy, David Sebastian (Chair), Kevin Stiffler, and Burt Webb. Current Non-resident Elders are Ron Fowler and Marty Grubbs.

God Amidst The Rummage

She had come to MPC for the rummage sale and was walking through The Commons by herself when Rob Spaulding greeted her. She seemed more interested in spiritual things than rummage! She shared with Rob of her interest in being baptized so he took her into the Main Auditorium to see the baptistery.

He learned of her desire to read the Bible but she did not have the money to buy one and due to poor eyesight could not read the small print. They walked to the book table where Rob picked up a leather bound Bible, opening it he was surprised to find it contained large print and the price was marked free. Rob proudly presented his new friend with her personal Bible.

“That was just one of the many ways that God blessed our event,” shared Marti Freeman, coordinator for the Annual Bazaar/Auction/ Rummage sale held May 10.
